Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) Reaction Model
A cellular automaton simulation of the famous non-equilibrium chemical oscillator. In the real world, this chemical reaction creates pulsating concentric rings and spirals in a petri dish.
The model uses three continuous chemical states (A, B, C) that consume each other cyclically (A eats B, B eats C, C eats A) while diffusing spatially.
This demonstrates how complex macroscopic order and temporal oscillation can spontaneously emerge from simple, local chemical kinetics.
